Building a Strong Team
At MediQore, our hiring and recruiting practices are similar to most in the healthcare and consulting industry. We understand the challenges of staffing for a highly specialized industry such as healthcare IT support, which leads us to prioritize a highly unique skill set. First, we start by using all the current models that anybody else would use, from recruiting websites to our own internal recruiters. Then, once we’ve identified individuals that match the criteria we’re looking for, we go through a specifically designed interview and testing process to ensure those individuals are the right fit for a given opportunity or client need. But what makes our hiring approach different from that of other consulting firms or health care organizations is what we prioritize in the people we hire.
The Right Fit
Often what I’m looking for when hiring at MediQore is people who are looking for a bit more flexibility in what they do. We hire a lot of people who’ve spent years, sometimes decades, working for consulting firms, traveling many hours a week and looking to get off the road. Among other benefits, we’re able to provide a more flexible option, by allowing our employees to work primarily from home or from one of our co-working centers.
The MediQore approach to application support is therefore not only less stress on our own individual employees, but it’s also more productive and efficient for everyone, overall. In fact, we don’t use the term ‘consultant’ at MediQore. The way we see it, we’re not there to ‘consult’, we’re there to put in the work to keep things running smoothly, or find efficiencies and optimization opportunities. In other words, our application support staff members are ready to roll up their sleeves and get dirty; they actually do the work, rather than just talking about it.
Prioritizing More Than Expertise
When we say we are “driven by service, powered by people,” it’s clear how critical the ‘people’ part is to our business model. So, finding and hiring the best talent plays a big role in delivering on this promise. And while expertise is certainly an important aspect of that, it’s not necessarily the end all be all of determining talent, especially in a customer-centric environment such as ours.
In the work that we do, it’s the relationship, the contact and communication with the client, that’s imperative to what we do. So, while we do look for someone with the right experience, I’ve found it can be just as crucial to find someone with the right approach and attitude, because sometimes that’s even more important than the level of individual expertise.
When it comes down to it, the expertise is always there and available. Whether it be through the individual, or their co-workers, or even a vendor partner, we’ll find a way to solve the problem. But it takes someone with the right approach and the right personality to deal with that, all while delivering exemplary customer service. And it’s this commitment to high-quality service that truly sets MediQore apart.
